Conclusion of Thnot Chum Health Center Well Project – Cambodia

Conclusion of Thnot Chum Health Center Well Project – CambodiaThis project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Josephine Mahlie. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to repair the well and pump system at Thnot Chum Health Center.

Josephine reports:

The project is finally complete! The inside lining of the well was patched and three cement rings were replaced. The old runoff area was removed and replaced with a new, smooth one. A cement cover was also built to keep the water clean.

A pump to replace the old non-working one was purchased and installed. A new piping system was then installed from the well to the pump, and then to a tank and into the health center.

The health center now has fresh well water pumped into the various rooms through this new system.

With a small amount of money left over from the Water Charity funds, and money from the health center state funds, we were also able to build a small laundry station on the other side of the health center that will be used by patient families during their stays after a birth. Providing them with a place to clean their clothes from the delivery and overnight stays will make it immensely easier on them.

Thank you so much to Water Charity for this incredible opportunity to provide a more sanitary, safe place for the community, staff, and patients of Thnot Chum and Thnot Chum Health Center!

We are grateful to Josephine for completing this project, and again extend our thanks to WHOLE WORLD Water for providing the funding.
