This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer A. Spear. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.
This overall project was to construct three classroom roofs and establish a garden adjacent to the school. Water Charity participated in the implementation of the irrigation system for the school garden.
PCV Spear reports:
The roofs were repaired and secured for the rainy season, although not all of the anticipated repairs could be done.
The school garden project began as an activity of the Mothers’ Association. However, the Director and President took control of the project, and the scope changed somewhat.
A tree garden was started at the secondary school, a smaller garden was started at the primary school, and a private local garden was improved. With the private garden, the primary school made an agreement to divide the produce between the school canteen and the private garden.
We are happy to have been able to participate in this project and help get it off the ground.
