The project was to build a rainwater catchment system and handwashing station at the school.
Jennifer reports:
The Njabini Rainwater Catchment project was completed with the assistance of the parents and staff of Njabini Primary School.
The 5,000-liter tank is located next to one of the classroom buildings with a tin roof. The tin roof allows the gutters and pipes to collect sufficient water for the tank.
The parents and teachers worked hard to complete the cement base for the tank and install gutters and piping. In addition, they supplied labor and the extra cost to make the handwashing stations permanent.
The day that the water tank was installed, a handwashing day event was held to talk about the importance of washing hands and demonstrate how to do it properly. The day was a great success and the children enjoyed the demonstration and were grateful for their new tank.
We extend our thanks to Jennifer for completing this important project. We are still accepting donations.
