The project was to build a rainwater catchment system for the school.
Charles reports:
The Mukhonje Secondary School Water Project was initiated on November 19th. My counterpart, Jairus Muhatia, and I met with the principal and chairman of the board of directors of Mukhonje Secondary. A plan of action was decided upon and work commenced immediately thereafter.
Jairus searched for the materials to be used for the stand and for a craftsman to build it. The school paid for the craftsman’s food and for the transport of materials. The stand was completed on November 25th and was left to dry for a week. During that time Jairus and I researched the best prices for the rest of the materials needed and an experienced plumber.
A 3,000 liter water tank, an outlet, a stop end, a drain pipe, an outlet pipe, and a tap were purchased on December 5th and transported to the site. The plumber immediately set to work adjusting the existing gutters to our purpose of water catchment and installing the water catchment system.
The project was completed on December 6th. The principal and board of directors wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Water Charity and offer assurance that the tank will be well cared for.
