The project was to build a rainwater catchment and storage system to provide clean water for the community group.
Tamita Vicky reports:
In August 2013, Kakelo Based Community Project received funding from Water Charity to build a rainwater catchment and storage system for the community in Mikai village.
The project was coordinated by Zachary Juma of Kakelo Based Integrated Support.
Two skilled masons and members of the community worked together to the construct the concrete stand and install the tank.
Also, gutters and piping were installed along with a system of water collection from the roof.
The water tank was inaugurated on August 21, 2013 at the project site. The community celebrated the installation of the water tank by organizing a prayer day of thanksgiving. They are deeply grateful for the generosity of Water Charity that allows them to have access to clean drinking water.
