Shaun Reports:
All materials for the project were successfully assimilated to complete the project and provide easier access to clean water for the local community members and school children. Thanks to Water Charity we complete a pipeline from a protected spring catchment in order to give approximately 500 school children access to safe drinking water as well as helping out the nearby health facility.
In addition to the manual labor involved in the project, PCV Shaun Willis worked with school staff to design a WASH club at Fultang High School training both students and staff on how to take care of the hand washing station. Activities and lessons were created to train other students about the importance of washing hands with soap before eating and after using the latrine.
Before this catchment and subsequent hand washing stations and taps it was reported that students in the local community had suffered from diarrheal related diseases. Since the completion of this project a significant decrease in children’s poor health has been reported.
This was a delightful project and on behalf of the whole community I wish to say Thank you to all of those who made it possible. Your help to make a difference in this community is a very wonderful thing. We look forward to seeing the many benefits of this project in the years to come.
We would like to thank Shaun once again for executing such a fine project.
