Evaristo Ribeiro dos Santos School – IDV & WC School Water Project
This project is made possible through the partnership of WATER CHARITY and the NATIONAL PEACE CORPS ASSOCIATION. 
Location: Taquarí hamlet, rural area of Itiúba county, at Rua do Prédio Taquari, s/n Zipcode 48850 000. The hinterland of Bahia state, 236 miles from Salvador, in Brazil.
Project Description & Impact:
Escola Municipal Evaristo Ribeiro dos Santos, has 389 regular students and 40 workers. An industrial electric water fountain with 4 taps, with 200 liters reservoir capacity, was purchased, delivered and installed offering cold water to the students, workers, and visitors. This is the second project we have done recently with this equipment in the region, a model manufactured in 430 Stainless Steel.
This machine services over 400 people daily now, with water temperature between 5ºC to 10ºC, because it is equipped with thermostat model RC 42600, Invensys Robertshaw with temperature regulation, forced Air Condensation with Elco Micrenerizer with thermal protector, calibrated with R134a Ecological Gas, and it has a black nylon base with screws for leveling.
The school does not have any air conditioning system and on days of more severe heat, the temperature inside a classroom can reach 100ºF. This, the second industrial electric fountain acquired by IDV and WC, is now attending to the demand for fresh and abundant water for the students and workers. The equipment was purchased in the neighboring city. The installation and maintenance are done by the caretaker of the school, who is available for repairs at all times.
Water Charity funds were used to purchase materials, including the drinking fountain, pump, piping, and valve, and deliver the equipment at the school.
The first contact was made in September of 2018, analyzing the viability of the project, including maintenance provided by the school caretaker. The project was completed on November 4th.
Project Direction & Management:
Instituto Diamante Verde (IDV), is an active nonprofit and longtime Water Charity partner in Brazil, that has implemented other projects under the direction of Reginaldo Silva Araújo, President. This partnership has resulted in sustainable, local community projects that have proven to be important to the welfare of these communities.
Project Funding:
This project has now been fully funded through the generosity of the Instituto Diamante Verde volunteers.
This project has successfully been completed. As you can see from the photos, the children now have access to clean and refreshing water.
