This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Jacob Hukill. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.
The project was to bring water to the health post by running a pipeline from the town water system.
Jacob reports:
After receiving the funds, I returned to Diaguely, and work started right away. The 100-meter trench had already been dug by community members as a show of support.
The plumber got the materials within 2 days. He installed the pipe and completed the plumbing work within a single day.
After paying for the materials, the transportation, and the labor, there was an extra $26. That was used to buy soap for the health post.
All of the community was very excited about this project. This is the time of year in which many people get malaria and other lesser medical complaints and come to the health post for treatment. The addition of running water has been truly appreciated. The working shower apparatus has also been appreciated by a few women who have given birth in the last few days.
Thank you so much. Your organization is amazing and does amazing things for many people.
We are grateful to Jacob for completing this simple but profoundly effective project, and again wish to thank the anonymous donor who, with the help of Jacob’s friends and family, provided the funding.
