This project has been completed under the technical direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Nick Rosenfeld. To read about the beginning of this project, CLICK HERE.
This project was to build 3 aquaponics demonstration systems and train others in the technology. Nick reports: I was able to set up 3 full systems and train two families that have continued the project and are now training other families in other communities. New Peace Corps volunteers were also trained in the process.
In addition, a mini-demo system was built at the Instituto Nacional Ernesto Flores (High School) and was added to their agronomy curriculum.
The pictures below show the potential of the technology, and demonstrate an impact that will reach far beyond the immediate effect on those involved in this small demonstration project.
We are happy to report that Nick has completed his Peace Corps service, and is now back in the U.S., enrolled in medical school. Despite his intense curriculum, he still finds time to check in with and help others implementing aquaponic systems. PCVs just keep giving.
We again thank the Elmo Foundation for providing the funding for the project.
