The project was to install sinks and running water into the family planning service, hospitalization service, injection room, pharmacy, and 3 consultation rooms of the health center.
Kitty reports:
Rushashi is a health center in Gakenke District in Rwanda with a catchment population of 19,046 people. This large health center has 6 buildings. The funding from Appropriate Projects was used to provide sinks and running water for the following services: family planning, in-patient hospitalization, injection room, pharmacy and 3 consultation rooms. The health center paid for 35% of the total cost of the project.
The project involved purchasing and installing a large water tank and connecting it to these key services. The health center maintenance staff has already been trained to maintain and fix the new sinks thanks to a training that was organized with the funding provided by Appropriate Projects for the Gakenke District
Health Centers Plumbing Training – Rwanda.The health center staff is greatly appreciative of the funding and have expressed their gratitude for money necessary to complete this project, which will increase the hygiene in the health center, reduce the number of diseases transmitted in the health center and improve the working conditions for the staff.

This is my fifth and last project with Water charity. This organization has helped me greatly contribute to my community during my service in Rwanda.
Kitty has completed her Peace Corps service. We are grateful to her for the great work she has done in implementing and completing this project, as well as the four that were finished previously.
