The project was to repair a pump in the village.
Jessica reports:
We have finished up the Kerr Ngornyan pump repair project. There is now year-round access to water for the entire village of 450 people.
A functioning pump at the North end of the continually-growing village now makes it easier for the women of the area to transport the water for their everyday needs. It also ensures that the entire village is able to drink potable water from a covered well as opposed to the open wells.
Ebou Sinyan, trained pump professional, was able to successfully install the new pump parts including the pump sleeve and centralizer.
Community members were involved in every stage, from purchasing the parts to dismantling the pump and rebuilding it.
Some community members recall that this was the first pump brought to the village a long time ago. It was placed in an area to best supply the village as a whole. Now that it is repaired, the community can continue to reap the benefits of the pump.
