Friends of Water Charity Fundraising Initiatives

We are extremely grateful for the efforts being put forth by groups that undertake the task of raising funds to aid the work of Water Charity. We have decided to start a series of articles to highlight recent initiatives that are underway, follow their progress, and herald their successes.

Elliot Marx
Computer Help for Water CharityElliot Marx is President of the Environment Club at Bella Vista High School, in Fair Oaks, California. Elliot started an initiative to benefit Water Charity, as well as the Environment Club, by personally offering computer help to people in his community.

He offered computer setup, installation, training and consulting, virus and spyware removal, hardware and software upgrades, networking, file transfers, and data backup.

He posted a flyer in 15 local businesses and shopping centers, and requested tax-deductible donations, of $20 per hour, for the benefit of these two organizations. He has set up appointments, and is starting to do the work.

Polytechnic School’s Challenge 20/20
Polytechnic School InitiaveA group of eighth grade students from Polytechnic School, in Pasadena, California, is participating in the Challenge 20/20 Program, of the National Association of Independent Schools. They are working on solutions to local and global water deficits. They have been reading about and discussing the issues of water shortage, and have taken field trips and done experiments to better understand the problem. In addition, they have prepared presentations to highlight the issues and propose steps to resolve them.

As part of the program, they decided to do a fundraiser, with proceeds to go to Water Charity. On December 19, 2008, they held a root beer float sale for their classmates. Although it was a chilly day outside, they managed to raise $107 for Water Charity!

You can read more about it here.

Thank You
We are very appreciative of the actions being taken to benefit the causes being advanced by Water Charity. The money is channeled directly into the field and has an immediate impact on those in need. However, just as important is the fact that these efforts publicize the issues, and raise the awareness of the public at large to the shortages of potable water that our world is facing.

If your group is implementing a fundraising effort on our behalf, let us know. We will highlight your efforts, and provide you with any assistance you may need to succeed in meeting your goals.
