Conclusion of Sung Pra Sat Primary School Bathroom Project – Cambodia

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Justin Brumer. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to build two bathrooms at the Sung Pra Sat Primary School.

Justin reports:

The school completed the bathrooms on May 22nd.

About four laborers regularly built the bathrooms, with five students volunteering in order to develop these skills. There were no hardships in building these bathrooms or acquiring the materials.

The administration ended up providing $250 in order to make this project successful.

On May 12th, the school invited village health volunteers to educate 70 students about health challenges such as diarrhea and the need for hand sanitation. These volunteers were able to emphasize the need for the youth to visit the health center when ill, rather than seeking traditional medicines.

It is the hope of the school to continue to have health volunteers speak to students about general disease prevention and build credibility for a young national health system in Cambodia.

Through the contribution of Water Charity, it is estimated that hundreds of students will have access to additional bathrooms and an increased awareness to health education.

Once again thank you so much for the support and finances in order to build bathrooms at Sung-Pra-Sat.

We again wish to thank The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding for this project.
