Conclusion of Rustavi School #5 Water and Sanitation Project – Georgia

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Peter Hendricks. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to bring running water for drinking, handwashing, and sanitation to the sports hall of Rustavi School #5, and also to restore two existing toilets to functionality.

Peter reports:

I just wanted to let you know that the water and sanitation project at my school has been completed. The project was successful and my school is very happy with the outcome.

Our school hired a worker from the community to do all the labor. He connected the school’s sports hall to the main school building’s water system with water pipes so that the sports hall now has running water.

He installed sinks in both the boys’ and girls’ changing rooms and he was also able to repair and clean a broken toilet in the changing room bathrooms. The remaining funds were used to repair part of the flooring in the changing room bathrooms.

The sports hall is used every day by hundreds of students and they will benefit from access to drinking water and more sanitary bathrooms for a long time.

Thank you again for all the work you do.

We again wish to thank The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding for this project.
