Conclusion of Nyakiambi Primary School Storage Tank Project – Kenya

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Iwona Matczuk.

The project was to install a rainwater storage tank at the school.

Iwona reports:

Despite some delay, due to the poor condition of the roads during the rainy season and the delivery of a damaged tank, which had to be replaced, the project has been completed.

The school was extremely cooperative in contributing what they could. From the beginning we all agreed that we should use the funds from Water Charity only for the tank, since that was going to be the most expensive portion.

The school was happy to take ownership of the project, and paid for the cement and sand for the base and for the labor of the fundi (mason/handyman) to construct the base and attach the gutters to the building. The work was done in a timely and efficient manner.

The gutters were donated form their sister school Nyakiambi Girls Secondary School, as they had some extras from their own installation.

We are grateful to Iwona for the completion of this important project, and again thank Life, Love, Water for funding this project.
