Conclusion of Maluti Adventist Hospital Water Project – Lesotho

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Terry Ellard.

The project was to install collection pipes in the seasonal water catchment reservoir to allow for the filling of storage tanks for the dry season.

Terry reports:

The project began with the delivery of supplies, including the pipes, fittings, and the tank. Installation was delayed for a week or so because we had some rain, and then we were all busy with planting.

The project was finished according to plan. The tanks did get filled and the water used. We had a very bad drought this year and had to use the water already. We are still hoping to get a rain of sufficient quantity to fill the tanks again for next spring.

I am busy with developing and demonstrating a “No Till system” for this area that includes cover crops for erosion control and water conservation as well as setting up a micro enterprise development center to manufacture the required tools and general farming tools as well as beekeeping equipment.

Thank you for your help and for establishing such a worthwhile organization as Water Charity.

We, in turn, extend our thanks to Terry for completing this great project, and also to Terry’s friends and family for providing the funding.
