Conclusion of Limoncarro Well Improvement Project – Peru

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Gina Gonzalez-Deloa. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to protect the well and pump from contamination by building a protective structure around the well.

Gina reports:

The Limoncarro Well Improvement Project culminated in the completion of a small enclosure around the well in order to protect it from contamination and damage. It will ensure the safety and health of the water users in the town of Limoncarro.

The enclosure consisted of brick walls, rebar-reinforced corner columns, steel beams, a cement floor, and a metal door. It was primarily constructed by the water operators and members of the committee.

The town´s water committee worked very hard to gather the needed funds to complete the execution of the project and has since been making progress towards other improvements. They have been working with local government officials to expand the water system and construct a sewage system.

We are grateful to Gina for completing the project, and again wish to thank the Elmo Foundation for providing the funding.
