Conclusion of Karang Soce Latrine Project – Senegal

This project has been successfully completed, under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Byron Yee. To see the history of the project CLICK HERE.

The project was to construct two latrines on the grounds of the Ecole Karang Soce primary school.

Byron reports:

The materials were purchased on June 12, with the “opening ceremony” on July 12. The official opening was marked with the presence of the mayor, the village chief, and several students and other community members. Their thanks, and mine, are overwhelming and abundant.

There was also enough money left over in the budget to paint these latrines. This financial maneuver meant that more transport and all painter labor was donated, further adding value to this community project.

Byron reflected on the project:

Overall, I am very happy with the outcome of the project. With our speed and budget, these latrines are the first official toilets of this primary school. Thank you very much for your support and help.

We are grateful to The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding for this successful project.
