Conclusion of Good Hope Primary School Rainwater Catchment Project – Kenya

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Tamita Vicky Ngarbaroum. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to build a rainwater catchment system at the school.

Tamita Vicky reports:

In September 2013, Good Hope Primary School completed the project to build a rainwater catchment system to provide water for all of the needs of the school.

The first task was to install a concrete stand for the tank. This was done by two skilled masons under the supervision of the Headmaster of the school with my assistance.

A 5,000 liter tank (larger than anticipated) was purchased, brought to the site, and installed on the stand. Then gutters were attached to the roof to capture the rainwater. Finally, piping was installed to connect the gutters to the tank.

School children, staff, parents and all the community are grateful for the generosity of Water Charity.

We extend our thanks to Tamita Vicky for completing this project. We are grateful to Christopher Lin for providing the funding in honor of Takeson and Family.
