The project was to build a 2-compartment latrine at the middle school.
Sarah reports:
The latrine project has been successfully completed.
The original project concept was for the construction of a latrine for use by students and teachers at the new middle school in Boke Diallobe. However, this was modified prior to implementation.
The director of the school took charge of the project and followed it through to completion. The decision was made that a faculty latrine would better serve the needs of the school, and the plans were changed to build the two latrines within the administrative building, which is still under construction.
The hole was dug for the septic tank, which was then lined. A concrete platform was placed in each of the two chambers. The structure was built of cement blocks, made on site. A metal roof was placed on the building, and the project was completed with steel doors.
The facility built for the school will be helpful and appreciated by the school community. The funding was extremely appreciated by the village to benefit the education of the children.
We are grateful to Sarah for completing this project. Although she has left the village, she has remained in Senegal for the third year of Peace Corps service.
