The project was to build a rainwater catchment system at the Likaringilo Dispensary.
Mary reports:
The water catchment project has been completed at the Likarangilo clinic.
The gutters were installed with heavy-duty reinforcements to withstand the rainy season and to ensure as much water as possible is collected for the 2,000 liter tank.
The tank has already started to fill up, and is being used for clean drinking water as well as hand washing for safe procedures for the patients.
The village and clinic staff are so grateful to have a means to collect the rainwater, which is saving them time, money, and energy from fetching from the nearest river.
This project could not have been completed without the help of several important villagers, including the bwana wa shamba and the fundi who finished the installation even after several hurdles arose. The students at the nearby primary school also helped out by delivering bricks for the stand to be built.
This was a village-wide effort to ensure the completion of a water catchment system at the clinic so that mamas and children could improve their health with clean water.
