This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Ryan Arnold. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.
The project was to extend an existing water pipeline and add a tap.
Ryan reports:
The project has been completed.
It was difficult with the rainy season, but our technician faithfully made his trips to the main city, Kumba, to purchase supplies and the community stepped up to donate their time and resources to ensure the finished project.
The youth in the neighborhood especially stepped up to dig the trench for the pipe and to carry sand from the river for the cement.
The piping was installed and connected to the water supply, and the cement base and drain were built.
In the end, the clinic now has close and reliable access to water and the neighborhood inhabitants no longer have to walk as far or wait in long lines to carry water.
We are grateful to Ryan for completing this project and again wish to thank The Staff at Saint Luke’s Surgicenter – Lee’s Summit,LLC for providing the funding.
