This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Adrian Valenzuela.

A summary of Adrian’s report is as follows:
The project was to construct a borehole near the center of Chimdomba, and provide clean assessable water for the 27 families in the village.
Water Charity supplied the funds for the materials and contracted labor.
STE Drilling was charged with the drilling, installing the borehole pump, and educating about borehole upkeep.
The drilling machine arrived on June 13, 2016, and drilling began in the late afternoon. However, it became too dark to continue that day. The crew slept in the village, and the next day drilling continued, and was completed late into the afternoon.
During this time the community of Chimdomba were collecting sand and stone, all by manual labor and ox carts.
The next day, construction began with a crew of 10 men and 16 women gathering water from the borehole in Chazovu. After a full day of building we called it a day and started the next day to finish the drain and complete the project.
After 5 days of drilling the water finally settled, and with a big cheer the group headman of Chimdomba village gave a big shout of “water is life!”.
The borehole committee, consisting of 3 members, assumed responsibility for of collection of money, maintenance, and cleanliness.
We are grateful to Adrian for completing this excellent project. Although the project has been completed, we are still accepting donations to cover the funds we have advanced, so that we have money on hand to continue to work with PCVs in Zambia on projects such as this one.
