The project was to repair and upgrade the reserve water system at the Thilogne Health Post so as to provide a continuous and reliable water supply.
James reports:
I worked with the president of the health association of Thilogne for the first six months of my service in village. We assessed various health issues and determined that, on average, the town was without water for 100 days out of the year.
Considering the existing water towers in the health post, we determined that the best solution for having access to clean water for patients, throughout the year, was that we should look for a way to solve this issue and create a plan of action
Upon completing the planning and after receiving project funds, we purchased the materials and then began the work. The work was done according to the specified plan and was finished within budget. The tanks were replaced and new plumbing and fixtures were installed.
Now that the project is completed, the water towers hold a combined 2000 liters of water and are automatically refilled when the water is working in Thilogne.
The end result is that whenever any of our 15,000 villagers is in need of medical attention, they have comfort in knowing that our health post will always have clean water for any and all of their needs.
The managing doctor at the health post said “I am baffled that we have over looked this major detail for so many years and I truly believe that our work will be much more sanitary now.”
