Conclusion of Twins Primary School Rainwater Catchment Project – Kenya

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Shailah Bevan.

The project was to build a rainwater catchment system at the school.

Shailah reports:

The project was finished within ten days. The parents were eagerly awaiting the tanks arrival and went to work immediately on the cement base.

After the cement base was formed they waited five days until the cement was hardened and then placed the tank on top.

When the tank was finished the parents constructed the rain catchment system and funneled the gutters into the tank.

Twins Secondary School was extremely pleased with the tank and just in time for the rainy season.

The schools are currently closed, but the day Twins re-opens there will be an after school celebration in honor of the water tank that was so greatly needed.

The entire staff and the students at the school have asked me to give a HUGE thanks to Appropriate Projects for their generosity. This tank will make a huge difference in the life of so many students who do not have the ability to consume clean water every day. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOU WONDERFUL GIFT!!

We are grateful to Shailah for completing this project, and again wish to thank CannedWater4Kids for providing the funding.
