Conclusion of Tilouguite Elementary School Bathroom Project – Morocco

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Erin Cubley. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to bring water into the school and build a new bathroom in an existing room.

Erin reports:

The week the project was supposed to start, the principal of the elementary school changed his mind about the location of the bathroom, and decided that a stand-alone bathroom would be more beneficial. The local Parent’s Association met and agreed to pay for the other materials needed to build a new toilet block.

The project proceeded on that basis, with the new location in the schoolyard 20 meters from the original site. Community funding was used for the purchase of cement, rebar, and cement bricks.

Funds from Appropriate Projects were used as planned to fund materials including the toilet plate (Turkish toilet), water piping, building labor, drainage pit labor, and necessary pipes to connect the toilet to the pit.

We are grateful to Erin for completing this project, and again wish to thank Anissa Weisel and Kids for Water for providing the funding.
