This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteers Lyzz Ogunwo and Rachel Gonnella.

The project was to build a basic 2-compartment latrine for the elementary school in Teugue-Ndogui.

Lyzz reports:

I am happy to say the project is complete.

The hole for the septic tank was dug, followed by the purchase and transportation of materials. Then the mason came to make bricks and begin construction.

The tank was lined with bricks and then covered with a concrete slab. The squat toilets were installed, followed by the walls and partition. The project was completed with the installation of the metal roof and doors.

The new count is that over 80 students and their teachers have access to a bathroom during their school days. The village is extremely happy and grateful for the assistance, and will be throwing a celebration and placing a thank-you plaque on the latrines.

We wish to thank Lyzz for completing this project, and again extend our gratitude to The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding.
