Conclusion of Taiba Willanene Water Project – Senegal

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Hanna Cleveland. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to provide a water source for the establishment of a community vegetable and fruit tree nursery.

Hana reports:

The robinet was installed immediately after receiving the funds from Water Charity, and is running smoothly.

The installation was completed in a timely manner. I organized 5 men from my village to dig a trench for the pipe from the main water line to the enclosed area. This took one day.

The next day I assisted the plumber in buying the materials at our local hardware store, 15 k away. The next day, the plumber assembled and installed the piping and the robinet. It was a pretty straightforward process.

After the robinet was installed we held a meeting and gathered the money to fix the gate and the storage shed. Both tasks were completed without any problem.

My counterpart and I marked and divided the space for each household in the community. Since April, families have dug and seeded tomatoes, jaxatu and hot pepper in the garden beds.

The plants are now sprouting nicely and we have begun covering them with nets.

Thank you Water Charity for making this possible!

We are grateful to Hana for her timely completion of this project.
