The project was to renovate the latrines and install a rainwater harvesting tank at the school.
Chelsea reports:
The project has been completed. The school was able to install its 500 liter rainwater tank and a boys latrine stall in an area that had been unused for some time.
We purchased a hand pump and pipes, constructed a metal tower and concrete platform to set the tank on, and replaced an old metal latrine cistern with a longer-lasting ceramic one.
Now, the visually-impaired male students are using the refurbished latrine and washing their hands with clean rainwater piped in from the tank. Hygiene at the school has improved greatly because of access to clean water and useable latrines.
