This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Joohee Lee.

The project was to install a sewage system and to replace the sink and wash area divider at the school.

Joohee reports:

It is with pleasure to report the completion of the Sovetskiy District Music School Sanitation project.

Work started with filing the project plan with the Sovetskiy Town Administration since it involved connecting a new sewage tank to the town sewage system. A permit was granted and work proceeded as planned. Children watched with excitement and even tried to help while workers dug the hole to build the sewage tank outside.

After the tank was built the sewage pipes were connected to the new sink on one end and to the town sewage system on the other side.

Inside, the old half-length wooden partition has been replaced with a full length plastic one to separate the wash area from the hall way. Teachers and parents installed plastic strips around the wall behind the sink to protect the wall from water damage, painted the inside of the wash area, replaced the light fixture, and hung a mirror above the sink.

All teachers, parents, and particularly students, are very much appreciative and excited with the new wash area where they can wash their hands frequently with ease.

Thank you for making this important project possible with necessary funding.

We are grateful to Joohee for completing another successful project, and to her friends and family for donating money for the project.
