Conclusion of Pampa Larga Water Supply Project – Peru

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Christopher Wilson. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to build an aqueduct to supply water to the village.

Christopher reports:

The project was completed according to plan. Aside from a few finishing touches, the system is functional and now provides water for domestic use to the village of Pampa Larga.

Thanks to Water Charity and additional financial support from the municipality, we were able to install over 700 meters of tubing using a previously unutilized subterranean water spring as a source.

The entire system was entirely constructed by community members. Most days we had anywhere from 3-10 people helping to build it.

However, the system did take longer to construct than expected, since most people helping were agriculturists and had their own crops to tend to.

Community members and the school especially appreciate the small water system. No longer must they travel kilometers to obtain water for cooking or cleaning.

We are grateful to Christopher for completing the project, and again wish to thank the Elmo Foundation for providing the funding.
