Conclusion of Nafadji Middle School Latrine Project – Senegal
The project was to build two latrines at the middle school.
The Nafadji Middle School Latrine Project came out of necessity. The school is located far away from the rest of the village, and is not made of any strong or permanent materials. There was no latrine at the school, and students were forced to either go in the bush during class or wait until they went home from school.
At the outset, the plan was to build two latrines, but the team decided to make one very secure latrine instead. After most of the work was completed, there was some delay in the construction of the roof and the placement of the door. However, the school proceeded to finish the job.
The project exceeded the budget, but the school administration made up the difference, and a high-quality latrine was constructed.
The community is grateful for the contribution of Water Charity. The principal of the school sees hygiene as a priority. The latrine gives pride to the students, and serves to keep the girls in school.
We extend our thanks to Leah for completing this project and again wish to thank The Ramona Foundation for providing the funding.
