The project was to install a water storage tank, handwashing station, and related piping and fixtures at the school.
The project has finally been completed. The school decided to deviate a bit from the plans to better meet their needs within the budget.
A total of 5 sinks were bought and installed on the wall at the entrance of the cafeteria. They replaced the 2 other non-functional sinks. The students currently use the sinks for washing their hands.
In addition to the sinks, plastic piping was installed and connected to a 400-liter water jug which was purchased and installed in the kitchen of the cafeteria. The water flows to the sinks by way of gravity.
Despite the changes, all of the funds were spent for the benefit of the students and the staff members at the school. All of the teachers are very excited about the ability of their students to have sanitation sinks.
Furthermore, the parents of the community have communicated to me that they are optimistic about volunteers, particularly ones who do projects to benefit their community.
We wish to thank Kip for completing this project, and again extend our gratitude to The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding.
