The project was to install a water filter, large basin sinks, and drinking stations in the kitchen area at the school to provide clean water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking.

Becca reports:

The project was a huge success! We had to wait until after the holidays to complete the project, but everyone worked very hard to finish it.

Our director went out himself to purchase the materials and make sure they were of the best quality. Then, a few of the local fathers came in on a weekend to install all the pipes and filters.

We were able to replace all of the pipes and add a water filter in the kitchen. We bought new, larger basins so we can actually cook and clean in the kitchen.

We also routed the filtered water into the sinks that the children use to wash their hands and drink from in the canteen.

Lastly, we were able to install a second filter and a drinking tap in the main school building so all the children and the staff are able to get clean drinking water easily.

The illnesses since the renovations have decreased immensely and the school and community are incredibly grateful!

“The water tastes very yummy now. It is better than at home, but don’t tell grandma” – Nastya, student

“With this clean water I see the children are much stronger now” – Olga, school nurse

“We thank you very much for this good project. It helps our school for many years. Thank you! Thank you!”- Oleg, School Director.

We are grateful to Becca for completing this outstanding project, and again extend our thanks to Wilco Krul for providing the funding.
