Conclusion of Koboye Latrine Project, Phase 2 – Senegal

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Ashleigh Baker. To read about the beginning of the project, CLICK HERE.

The project was to build 8 additional latrines in Koboye.

Ashleigh reports:

The second phase of latrines in Koboye is complete.

Things went very smoothly with the 8 additional latrines. The delivery came and the mason started work. The mason has his technique down and can do two latrines in a day quite easily. He is now an expert latrine capper and will be able to help the village with repairs or new additions in the future.

As I walk through the village, people call for me to come and look at their latrines. The families are so happy. One woman told me that her family used to walk so far to use the bathroom and if they were sick or elderly, it could be very difficult. Now, she has a latrine on her compound and is pleased with the easy access.

We are grateful to Ashleigh for completing this project.
