Conclusion of Kirovograd Regional Universal Research Library Sanitation Project – Ukraine

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Karin Jones.

The project was to purchase and install two hot water heaters (boilers) for use at the library.

Karin reports:

Two water heaters were installed. One is now located in the kitchen, and one is in the public women’s restroom. In addition a water supply was provided to the men’s room.

Two water heaters that were installed at the library are now being used for cleaning purposes, for washing hands, and for when the library holds events that involve the need to wash dishes. Previously, only cold water was available for all of these uses. Given the volume of people who come through the library each year, these water heaters are a valuable contribution to community health in Kirovograd.

Reactions to the water heaters are unanimously positive – one of the cleaning women, when the project was discussed in front of her, said “cool!”. All library employees have thanked me for getting them these heaters.

Thank you so much for the funds for these water heaters – they have already made a big difference at the library, for both library employees and patrons alike!

We wish to thank Karen for completing this project, and again extend our gratitude to The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding.
