The project was to build 16 handwashing stations in health centers.
Rebecca reports:
The Kayunga District Handwashing Station Project has been completed according to plan. With the help of my co-workers we used local workers and materials to assemble the hand washing stands. They also helped to develop an effective handwashing card describing the correct procedures to have the cleanest hands, in English, Luganda, and in pictures for people in the community who are illiterate.
Each of the 16 new stations consists of a 20-liter tank, with the appropriate valve, on top of a metal stand.
The handwashing stations were distributed by Kayunga District Youth Center’s Youth Staff at Kayunga and Mukono Youth Centers, all five wards of Kayunga District Hospital and their three latrines, as well as five different health centers around Kayunga District.
The response from the community has been very positive and the stations are being used heavily.
