The project was to install an indoor bathroom at the school.

Shaina reports:

The project was completed a week before Peace Corps Volunteers were evacuated from Ukraine due to security concerns. The project had been delayed due to winter weather and shortage of funds.

The work was completed by local construction workers as well as current and previous male students. First, lines were dug outside for pipes. A wall was put up to divide the space into a bathroom and the other half, the teachers’ office.

Another wall was constructed to divide the bathroom into men’s and women’s. Six toilets, 2 urinals, and 2 sinks were installed. New windows were installed. Tile was laid and the walls were painted.

The Vice Principal was very excited to present the final product.

Thank you so much for all of your efforts in helping Hrebinka School Number 1 to build indoor toilet facilities!!

We are grateful to Shaina for completing this important project despite the adversity.

We again extend our thanks to Wilco Krul and Shaina’s friends and family for providing the funding.
