Conclusion of Haivoron School #1 Water Project – Ukraine

This project has been completed under the direction of Peace Corps Volunteer Caleb Sullivan.

The project was to renovate the water and sanitation systems at the school.

Caleb reports:

We bought four new sinks, filters and piping for the bathroom. There was an agreement that if these materials were bought, the parents and staff would pitch in to buy new toilets, tiles and other renovations for the bathroom. All this would be installed by the parents, and the laborers of the school. This was achieved.

The director of the school was quoted as saying “The results of this grant have done more for this school than our government has done in twenty years!”

When I left Ukraine, the project had not yet been finished. However, my school has assured me that the fixtures have been installed and the project was completed. They promised me they would send photos of its completion, but then the political situation in Ukraine deteriorated, and it became increasingly difficult to stay in contact.

We are grateful to Caleb for completing this project, despite the adversity. We again extend our thanks to Christopher Lin for providing the funding.
