The project was to renovate the bathroom for teachers at the school.

Danae reports:

We have completed the water sanitation project at our school.

The teacher’s bathroom is now equipped with running water, a window for ventilation, and electricity, as well as other upgrades, such as a new sink basin, soap dispenser, small lamp shade, mirror and towel rack. The process took longer than we had hoped, but now that it is finished it will truly enhance the quality of life for the teachers at our school.

The project began, when we hired a worker to cut into the thick cement wall to create a space for a window. This was so important because being that this bathroom is small in size, on the main floor of the school building, and lacking in cleanliness, the smell had nowhere else to go but to fill the school hallways. Once the window was installed, effective ventilation was achieved.

Next, piping had to be installed from the water source to the bathroom. Now, water runs cleanly out of the sink faucet.

Then, we hired an electrician to rewire the existing electrical wiring and cover it with a small lamp shade.

These renovations will forever change the basic sanitation of the teacher’s bathroom, which is used on a daily basis.

One teacher was quoted as saying “I can’t believe after working here for 5 years, we actually have running water in our bathroom now.”

Another teacher said “Not having to use my phone as a light when I use the bathroom is great.” Many others have commented on the fact that the bathroom does not smell as bad now that there is a window to ventilate the small room.

Thank you so much to the donors and support on this project!
