The project was to build hand washing facilities at the school.

Sue reports:

The Chernihiv Collegium No. 11 Handwashing Station Project has been completed.

The project involved replacing nine sinks, nine faucets, and nine siphons in addition to providing tubing and mounting materials. The work replaced very old, non-functioning facilities located just outside the 75-year-old school’s cafeteria. The new installation used state-of-the-art materials to provide new sinks and single faucets where previously there had been two faucets, one hot and one cold.

The school’s contribution to the project was to provide the labor for installation. In addition, the school replaced the ceramic tile behind the new sinks and closed in the pipes beneath, which were previously exposed. The Chernihiv Youth Employment Center contributed to the project by procuring the materials and covering the cost of their delivery from the supplier to the work site at the school.

We are extremely grateful to the Water Charity for funding this project. Please accept sincere thanks from Collegium No. 11 students, faculty and staff as well as from the Chernihiv Youth Employment Center and myself.

We, in turn are grateful to Sue for completing this project, and to Richard Lucey for providing the funding.
