Conclusion of Cajolá Latrine Project – GuatemalaKathryn reports:

The project has been completed by the families with the help of the experienced masonry workers. 20 latrines were built in accordance with the project plan.

Water Charity funds were used to pay for the skilled labor and most of the materials.

The participants were all graduates of the Healthy Homes project, which taught them how to improve their health and hygiene. Before participating in the project, they learned the importance of handwashing, trash management, water purification, good nutrition, and family planning.

All of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude. Typical of the comments was that of Maria Joaquina, who built a beautiful latrine. She stated: “The latrine is now shared by my 18 family members. I am so grateful because my grandchildren are growing up in a healthy home.”

We extend our thanks to Kathryn for completing this project and again acknowledge the generous donation of Michael and Carla Boyle.
