The project was to build a latrine structure at the school.

Thomas reports:

I would like to report that the school latrine in Padaf, Kaolack, Senegal has been completed.

My counterpart and the mason worked together to come up with a budget and list of the supplies needed to construct the latrine.

With the help of a friendly hardware store owner in the regional capital, I purchased the materials for the latrine, loaded them on a bus and accompanied them on the 3.5 hour ride to Padaf.

After the cement and iron were transported by horse cart from a nearby larger village, the project was ready to start.

The villagers of Padaf helped dig the large pit and bring in sand and water. My counterpart worked closely with the mason. The mason prepared the building materials and constructed the latrine.

The residents of Padaf are extremely grateful to have this latrine, which they have been wanting for many years. People are continually expressing how happy they are that the school now has a latrine.

We are grateful to Thomas for completing this project, and again wish to thank The Andando Foundation for providing the funding.
